Vladimir Putin signs decree on establishing arts and culture grants

Grant recipients are chosen by the head of state upon recommendation of the government for three years, and from 2016 grant recipients will be chosen on a competitive basis

MOSCOW, May 13 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on state support for culture and art, the Kremlin press service said on Monday.

In particular, the decree establishes presidential grants in culture and arts. Grant recipients are chosen by the head of state upon recommendation of the government for three years.

From 2016 grant recipients will be chosen on a competitive basis.

“The budget assignments for paying grants total 2.994 billion roubles a year,” the press service said.
