The White Flower charitable action to take place in Moscow

MOSCOW, May 12 (Itar-Tass) - The biggest charitable action called “The White Flower” will take place in Moscow on Sunday. It is timed to coincide with the World Day of Medical Nurse and will take place in the heart of Moscow on Kuznetsky Most street.

The action is organized by the Orthodox charity service Mercy. At least 7,000 guests are expected to participate in the action. All the funds raised from the action will be spent on helping sisters of charity to do their patronage work. Sisters of charity are women who devote their lives to looking after seriously ill people. "Every day, hospital patients suffer from lack of care and hundreds of lonely sick people are forced to stay helpless in the four walls of their own apartments,” says Bishop Panteleimon, the head of the Synodical department for charity and the vicar of the Holy Patriarch. “Sisters of mercy come to their rescue. They try to take good care of them at home and in hospital. The White Flower festival will give everybody a chance to make a contribution to the work of the sisters of mercy,” Bishop Panteleimon said.

A charitable fair of handcrafted items and author’s works will be held on the sidelines of the action that will last until 22:00 Moscow time. Soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre, including bas Fyodor Tarasov, the quartet of the Big Symphony Orchestra, young talented artists of the Vladimir Spivakov Fund, soloists of the Galina Vishnevskaya Center of Opera Singing and the Bells of Russia group.

A special program will be organized for children. Young guests will be taught top make folk dolls and necklaces from wool. All the guests will be treated with tea and sweets.

The White Flower is supported by the Synodical department for church charity and the department of culture of the city of Moscow.
