Two people injured in train accident remain in poor conditions - source

ROSTOV-ON-DON, May 10 (Itar-Tass) - Two of the 52 injured in the accident and fire at Belaya Kalitva station in the Rostov region are in poor conditions, the regional healthcare ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“A total of 18 people were taken to hospital,” the source said. “Ten patients are in Rostov-on-Don’s burn centre, and others are in Belaya Kalitva’s central regional hospital.”

Overnight to Thursday, a total of 51 tanks skidded off the track and a part of them caught fire, the area of which reached 1,500 square meters eventually.

The blaze was localized by 05:40 Moscow Standard Time and the open flames were fully extinguished by 05:46.

As a result of the accident, twenty people were injured and eight of them had to be taken to hospital. Also, the accident necessitated the evacuation of 2,700 people living near the spot where the coaches had skidded, the press service of the Rostov region governor said.
