MOSCOW, May 7 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) is ready to help the North Caucasian republics of Dagestan and Ingushetia to organize elections of their heads on a single election day on September 8, deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission Leonid Ivlev told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

According to Ivlev, neither federal laws nor Dagestan’s and Ingushetia’s republican laws prohibit to hold elections of supreme officials on the single election day. “The Russian Central Election Commission has upgraded the federal and local laws on the elections. In neither case, it is prohibited to hold a parliamentary vote to elect the head of republic on the single voting day,” he stressed.

“It is in full compliance with the Russian constitution,” he added. “We are ready to help Dagestan and Ingushetia work out campaigning calendar to organize the elections of their head on the single voting day, September 8.”
