MOSCOW, May 5 (Itar-Tass) - An Expert Opposition Council will hold a sanctioned protest action in Moscow on Sunday. The so-called Expert Opposition Council the former candidates to the Coordination Opposition Council (KSO) who failed to become its members at elections in autumn 2012.
The event is timed to coincide with the first anniversary of an opposition rally, which was held on Moscow’s Bolotnaya Square on May 6, 2012 and ended with mass riots and clashes with police. As a result, almost thirty protesters are facing charges of organizing mass disturbances. Mikhail Anshakov, a member the Expert Opposition Council, told Itar-Tass that the action would take place from 16:00 until 20:00 Moscow time. The protesters will gather on Moscow’s Kaluzhskaya Square, will march along the Yakimanka Street and hold a rally on the Bolotnaya Embankment.
Members of the Coordination Opposition Council (KSO) have warned many times that it’s going to be inappropriate to hold political events like rallies and demonstrations on May 5 when Orthodox Christians are going to celebrate Easter.
