MOSCOW, April 28 (Itar-Tass) - Initial reports on gunfire that was allegedly opened from a cavalcade of cars carrying a wedding party have not received any confirmation, the press service of the Moscow City Interior Department said Sunday night.

“It’s not ruled out that participants in the wedding party threw a petard, the clasping sound of which was mistaken by the passers-by for shooting,” a spokesman said. “Verification of the information continues right now.”

However, one of the drivers in the cavalcade has been detained and “a package of petards, as well a small pack with a phytogenic substance.

“The car’s driver will be kept by the police until we get the results of an expert testing of the substance that was found,” the spokesman said. “Other participants in the wedding party have been released.”

Earlier reports said that a wedding party consisting of 15 persons from North Caucasus opened fire in the air. The police ostensibly blocked their five cars at the entrance to Tsaritsyno Park in the southeast of Moscow.
