NOVO-OGAREVO, April 26 (Itar-Tass) – Russia will consider amendments to the adoption agreement with France after the latter approved the law allowing same-sex parents to adopt children, President Vladimir Putin told a meeting of the presidium of the Council of Legislators on Friday.
“We will think over this issue, it is pressing,” he said. “We should react to what is going on around us. We treat our neighbours with respect, but ask to treat with respect our cultural traditions, ethic, legislative and moral norms.”
“I believe we have the right to submit amendments,” he added.
Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko, who participated in the meeting, said amendments to the adoption agreement with France are now being prepared.
