VOLGOGRAD, April 15 (Itar-Tass) - An EMERCOM Yak-42 plane with schoolchildren, who were injured in a bus crash in Belgium, has landed at Volgograd's international airport, a source at the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Volgograd regional department told Itar-Tass.
Aboard the plane were 29 people, 25 children and four adults. They were under the care of doctors and psychologists on the flight, the ministry's information department said.
Parents, psychologists and doctors waited for the children at the airport. The decision who can go home and who will remain for medical and psychological care will be taken at the site.
Six injured people, including three teenagers remain in Belgian hospitals. Doctors from Moscow consider the possibility to carry them to Russia. Another EMERCOM IL-76 plane with medical modules is at Brussels airport. The Il-76 is planned to take the remaining patients to Russia.
The bus crash occurred at about 08:30 Moscow time on Sunday near Antwerp. The bus carrying 31 schoolchildren aged from 12 to 17 and nine accompanying adults at a speed of more than 100 km/hour rammed through the highway fence, ran off the road and overturned. Five people died, including three Russians. Among them is a teenager. Other 19 Russian citizens were injured. Six of them are in hospitals. Three are in grave condition.
