HANNOVER, Germany, April 8 (Itar-Tass) – It would be better to have spent the enormous sum that came from foreign sources to Russian non-governmental organizations (NGO) in the past four months to provide financial aid to Cyprus, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“This enormous sum – one billion U.S. dollars – might have been spent to help Cyprus, and there would have been no need to fleece poor depositors,” Putin said on Monday at a news conference after his visit to Germany.
