KIEV, April 7 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich signed an order issuing a pardon for the country’s former Interior Ministry Yuri Lutsenko, the presidential press service reported on Sunday.

The president has pardoned six convicted, including former Minister of Environment Georgy Filipchuk.

Earlier, Ukraine’s parliamentary human rights ombudsperson Valeriya Lutkovskaya addressed the president for pardon.

Ukraine’s former Interior Minister was detained on December 26, 2010. The Prosecutor General’s Office accused him of embezzling state property in especially large amounts, and of abuse of power. On February 27, 2012, Kiev’s Pechersky District Court announced the former minister guilty and sentenced him to four year’s term with confiscation of assets and banned him to take managing positions, including state service.
