Vologda region bus crash death toll rises to six, 18 injured

ST PETERSBURG, March 28 (Itar-Tass) – Six people died in the Vologda region on Thursday when a bus collided with a truck and a car, and another 18 were injured. The bus belonged to Petersburg orphanage # 8, Vologda region governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov wrote in his blog. Earlier reports said five people had been killed.

"As of now, the road accident claimed has six lives, and another 18 have been injured," Kuvshinnikov wrote. The bus was carrying 25 children and six adults. Six ambulances rushed to the scene.

The accident occurred at the 110th kilometer of the Vologda-Novaya Ladoga highway /10 kilometers from the town of Cherepovets/ near the village of Vokhta. A Kamaz truck collided with the bus en route from St Petersburg to Vologda.

Deputy regional governor Viktor Ryabishin went to the scene. He will make hourly updates on the situation to the governor. Governor Kuvshinnikov ordered all the Cherepovets rescue services to hurry to the scene to render the necessary assistance.
