PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 20 (Itar-Tass) - A powerful cyclone that came from Japan's shores has hit the southern areas of the Kamchatk Peninsula with a gale-force wind and heavy blizzards. A storm warning was issued.

It is snowing heavily throughout the Peninsula's south and wind velocity mounted up to 27 metres per second. Visibility on motor roads is limited.

The cyclone affects most strongly Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky: velocity of wind gusts here is up to 24 m/s, and visibility on the roads is about 50 metres, an official at the Kamchatka Hydrometeo center has told Itar-Tass. Transport communication with suburban townships has been disrupted. There are also setbacks in the operation of public transport.

The Peninsula's air service with the mainland has been interrupted. The flights of Aeroflot and Trasnaetro airliners from Moscow's Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports have been postponed. There are delays in inbound flights from other regions as well. All passenger aviation flights along local air routes have been suspended.
