SEOUL, March 8 (Itar-Tass) – The DPRK has made a decision to denounce the non-aggression pact with South Korea and to close the direct telephone line between the two countries, the South Korean Yonhap News Agency reports a statement of the DPRK’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland (CPRF) published on Friday by the CTAK agency as reading.

“The DPRK is denouncing all non-aggression pacts between the North and the South,” the committee said in the statement. “The DPRK also closes the communication channel between the North and the South at the Panmunjom border station.”

Pyongyang published the statement several hours following the adoption of a resolution by the United Nations’ Security Council, which expands sanctions against the DPRK following the third nuclear test, the republic made on February 2. The North Korean committee believes the resolution was adopted “under pressure from the US and Southern Korea.”
