UN Security Council tightens sanctions against North Korea

The measures are in the first place aimed at preventing illegal activities by North Korean banks and diplomats

UNITED NATIONS, March 7 (Itar-Tass) – The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution tightening sanctions against North Korea in retaliation for last month’s nuclear test. It was unanimously approved by all of the fifteen UN Security Council member-states, including Russia and China.

The measures are in the first place aimed at preventing illegal activities by North Korean banks and diplomats. Also, control will be tightened of the cargoes related to North Korea. The list of individuals and organizations whose accounts shall be frozen has been expanded.
