MOSCOW, March 5 (Itar-Tass) - Two policemen have been taken to hospital after being wounded in a shootout with a bandit in the Republic of Karachayevo-Cherkessia in Russia’s Northern Caucasus, the Russian Interior Ministry reports.
“Two wounded policemen were taken to a city hospital in Cherkessk. A Vulkan-4 plan has been launched to intercept the man,” an Interior Ministry source told Itar-Tass.
“Two policemen from the republican Interior Ministry carried out a search raid on the Veteran gardener’s partnership in the outskirts of Cherkessk on Monday night. They noticed a man who was walking with a bag, covering his face. One of the policemen decided to check his identity. However, the man started running away. He opened fire at the policemen and wounded one of them in a shoulder. The second policeman made several shots from a pistol at the bandit," the Interior Ministry source said.
The criminal fell on the ground and threw a grenade at the policemen. One of them suffered from a mine-blast trauma and concussion. The unknown man disappeared from the scene.
