MOSCOW, March 4 (Itar-Tass) – Public support for President Vladimir Putin has not changed over the year that has passed since the presidential election and he is still supported by two-thirds of voters, according to public opinion polls.

“Support for Putin over the past year has practically not changed and remains high at two-thirds of voters,” Valery Fyodorov, director of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM), said on Monday, March 4.

According to Fyodorov, the promises Putin made before the election had played an important role in his victory and those who supported him are now watching how they are fulfilled.

“The president is credited first of all for the fight against corruption and efforts to improve the well-being of people,” Fyodorov said, adding, “High inflation is the main cause of irritation.”

In the future, people expect Putin to focus his efforts on how to further improve well-being, raise pensions and provide better care to children.

Putin was re-elected president for the third time a year ago by almost 64 percent of votes.
