MOSCOW, March 4 (Itar-Tass) - This Monday is a significant day for President Vladimir Putin: a year ago, he was elected the Head of State for a third time, polling almost 64 percent of the vote in the very first round. Now as well, by the level of trust granted to him Putin remains far ahead of all other Russian politicians, according to the findings of VTSIOM and FOM pollsters.
Incidentally, noone in the Kremlin is going to mark the date of the electoral win of a year ago. "We shall not mark (the date) in any way. The President will have a usual working day," presidential press secretary DmitryPeskov told Itar-Tass.
In response to a question as to whether the first year of the new presidential six-year term was successul to Putin, Peskov suggeste asking experts and political scientists to answer the question. However, he assured that throughout the period a "very active work has been under way".
According to a report by the presidential press service, this Monday will be no exception in this respect. Putin is schedulec to hold talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovich, the talks which, there is every indicaion, will be no easy. The gas issue, which has not been settled by mutual consent, has been the stumbling block in bilateral relations for many years now.
Besides, an important and no easy theme in Russia-Ukraine contacts at summit level is Ukraine's possible accession to the integrational processes in the Eurasian space.
However, notwithstanding all the predicted difficulties of the dialogue, Yanukovich is likely to find an opportunity to congratulate Putin on the anniversary of his being elected to the presidency.
