MOSCOW, March 2 (Itar-Tass) – Several thousands of protesters gathered in Moscow’s centre to march for protection of children.
Many protesters, mainly women aged between 40 to 50 years pinned ribbons with inscriptions “I’m with you, Kirill!” on their clothes, expressing support for a brother of adopted Russian boy Maxim Kuznetsov, who died in the U.S. family.
Many people said they went to streets at the call of their heart.
“As soon as musicians found out about the march for protection of children, they decided selflessly to come and express their support for the ideas of the march,” said a head of the brass band.
“Orphans need mothers, not graves!” chanted young people.
“We came here to protect our children,” a woman participating in the march told Itar-Tass.
People wave placards saying “Children need government’s protection!” and “Motherland begins with Mother!”
Organizers of the march said 20 minutes before the action started there were 9,000.
“The number of protesters will grow even more,” Irina Bergset, coordinator of Russian Mothers movement, said.
