MOSCOW, March 2 (Itar-Tass) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the former leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, who now heads the International Foundation for Socio-Economic and Political Studies, on his birthday, the Kremlin press service said on Saturday.
In his telegram Putin pointed to Gorbachev’s “fruitful public and research activities and his active participation in popular charitable and educational projects” that rightly earned him deep respect.
