MOSCOW, March 1 (Itar-Tass) - More than 4,000 policemen and members of public order squads will ensure order and security at two rallies in central Moscow on Saturday, the Moscow police press service told Itar-Tass.
Two mass demonstrations of activists of public and political parties, organizations and movements will take place in central Moscow. The authorities have given permission for the actions.
Demonstrators will go from Gogolevsky Boulevard to Novopushkinsky Square in a march "For Protection of Children" and hold a rally at the square.
The opposition organizes a march "For Muscovites' Rights" from Strastnoi Boulevard to Academician Sakharov Avenue, where a rally will also take place.
A total of more than 4,000 policemen, interior troops and members of voluntary police-assisting squads will ensure public order and security for citizens. Any violations will be stopped by police. Persons who will commit law violations will be brought to account, the press service said.
The march "For Protection of Children" is planned to begin at 14:00 and end at 15:00 Moscow time. Demonstrators will go from Gogolevsky Boulevard through the tunnel along Nikitsky Boulevard and Tverskoi Boulevard to Novopushkinsky Square. The rally of up to 20,000 people will take place at Novopushkinsky Square and Tverskoi Boulevard from 15:00 till 17:30.
The opposition march "For Muscovites' Rights" will begin at 14:00 and end at 15:30. The route lies through the Strastnoi, Petrovsky, Rozhdestvensky and Sretensky public walks to Turgenev Square with a turn to Academician Sakharov Avenue. The rally will be held at the avenue from 15:30 to 18:00 with the expected turnout of up to 4,400 people.
Participants will go through metal detector frames to the demonstration sites.
Police ask citizens to prevent provocations of some persons who may attempt to use them for their unlawful purposes.
