YEKATERINBURG, February 27 (Itar-Tass) – Almost 95 percent of buildings damaged in a meteor shower in Russia’s Chelyabinsk region on February 15 have been restored, the press service of the regional emergencies ministry told Tass on Wednesday.
Repair work has been done on 6,911 buildings. “Over 7,000 people have taken part in work to liquidate the aftermath of a meteor shower,” the press service said.
The meteor shower early on February 15 was fixed in five Russian regions – the Tyumen, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan regions as well as in Bashkiria.
Almost 1,500 people sought medical assistance, including 311 children. Preliminary damage is estimated at one billion roubles.
