MOSCOW, February 24 (Itar-Tass) – The Russian Student Union launched a signup campaign against the dismissal from the Moscow State University (MGU) of professor from the faculty of mechanics and mathematics and activist of the MGU student movement Mikhail Lobanov.
The student union has also written a letter to dean of the faculty Vladimir Chubarikov and Rector of the Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy with similar request. The student council of the faculty of mechanics and mathematics and Lobanov’s former scientific supervisor came out in protection of the professor.
It was reported earlier this week that the labour contract will not be extended for Lobanov. He stated that he links this fact particularly with the participation in the investigation of the falsification of a thesis of former principal of the mathematical specialized school under the Moscow State University Andrei Andriyanov.
However, the Moscow State University denied this fact, noting that the professor was not engaged in scientific work and did not pass the certification in the doctorate.
