MOSCOW, February 20 (Itar-Tass) – Eleven criminal cases were opened over the violations of the rights of the Russian adopted children in the United States, head of the Russian Investigation Committee Alexander Bastrykin said at a question-and-answer governmental session in the State Duma on Wednesday.
“Eleven criminal cases were opened over several blatant violations of the rights of the adopted children by the US citizens,” he said. “This concerns the cases, when people committed heinous crimes and were relieved from criminal responsibility within the US legal system,” Bastrykin underlined. “We are doing our utmost within our competence and our national jurisdiction, international law, to attain to bring to criminal responsibility the US citizens, who are guilty of grave crimes against our children,” he pledged.
Meanwhile, Bastrykin noted that “in Russia the situation in the orphanages and children’s homes, other institutions, where orphans and the children, who were left without parental care, are the inmates, is far from being ideal.” “We are doing our best to improve it,” he confirmed.
