MOSCOW, February 19 (Itar-Tass) – Fire fighters have contained a fire that broke out in Moscow’s Institute of Chemical Physics, a spokesman for the city department of the Russian emergencies ministry told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
According to preliminary data, no one was hurt. There are no radioactive and chemically hazardous substances in the building. Radiation is within normal levels.
The fire was reported at 17:46 Moscow time. It started on the roof of the two- and three-storey building located at 4 Kosygin Street. The fire spread over an area of 500 square meters. Fifty people were evacuated from the building. The fire was assigned the second degree of complexity.
