MOSCOW, February 19 (Itar-Tass) - The Schneerson Collection is Russian property, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.
At the same time, the Russian president called to pool efforts to find a solution to this problem. Thus, he suggested that the collection could be displayed at the Jewish Museum and Centre of Tolerance.
“Regrettably, I have to state that the discussion of this problem has gained elements of confrontation, when foreign country’s courts pass wrongful, to my mind, awards,” Putin said at a meeting of the council on interethnic relations. “The Schneerson Collections belongs to no particular Jewish community, it belongs to the Russian state.”
“But we would not like to stymie the situation,” he added.
