MOSCOW, February 18 (Itar-Tass) – Russia’s Emergencies Ministry is preparing planes with humanitarian consignments intended for Syria for departure, a spokeswoman for the ministry, Irina Rossius, told Itar-Tass on Monday.

Russians and citizens of other CIC member-states may leave Syria aboard these planes if they wish, she said.

“Two planes Il-76 and Il-62 are expected to leave for Latakia on Tuesday. Now humanitarian consignments for Syria are being prepared,” she said.

According to the Emergencies Ministry, Russia plans to send 44 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Syria.

In January two planes of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry brought from Beirut to Moscow 77 people, mainly women and children.
