TBILISI, February 18 (Itar-Tass) – A Russian delegation will arrive in Georgia this week to monitor its safety and quality control of wines and mineral water.
The chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Davitashvili, told reporters on Monday Russian experts are expected to arrive on Wednesday, February 20, or Thursday, February 21. “During the visit they will visit approximately 40 enterprises,” he said.
“The Russian delegation will include six experts, mainly sanitary doctors,” Davitashvili said. Enterprises they plan to visit “are located, mainly in Kakheti and Kartli, Georgia’s east.”
A week ago Georgia’s National Wine Agency sent to Moscow the full list of Georgian companies wishing to work in Russia and export wine and mineral water.
The companies on this list “are ready for inspections by Russian specialists.”
Earlier Davitashvili called the Georgian delegation’s visit to Moscow on February 4-5 and the talks with the Russian consumer rights watchdog as “maximally successful.”
Georgian wines may return to the Russian market in April.
