MOSCOW, February 16 (Itar-Tass) - Texts of dissertations will be placed in the Internet before the defence for discussion. It will allow considering remarks in advance and combating plagiarism, Higher Attestation Commission chairman Vladimir Filippov said on Saturday on Ekho Moskvy Radio.
It will be ensured that not only the synopsis, but the whole text will be published before the defence -- at least a month before for the degree of a candidate and three months before for the degree of a doctor. A kind of a forum will be organized to present received remarks during the defence, he said.
On Friday, the commission decided to recommend the Russian minister of education and science to strip eleven doctors and candidates of the degrees. They defended their theses at Moscow Pedagogical State University. In some of their works, 50-80 percent of the content was taken from dissertations of other people.
