MOSCOW, February 15 (Itar-Tass) - A source at the Russian Health Ministry told Itar-Tass that 524 people, including 82 children, were injured in the Chelyabinsk Region because of the meteorite fall.

Thirty four people, including 12 children, are hospitalized, the source said. Two of the patients are in grave condition, and 22 are in moderately heavy condition. The children are in serious and relatively satisfactory condition.

At the same time, Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov reported to President Vladimir Putin that 80 children were hospitalized in the Chelyabinsk Region and a total of more than 100 people were taken to hospitals. More than 500 people asked for medical help, and 112 were hospitalized, including 80 children, the minister said.

According to the Health Ministry, 367 injured people, including 58 children, are in Chelyabinsk, where nine people, including two children, mostly with non-cut injuries, are hospitalized.

There are 81 injured people, including 21 children, in the Kopeisk city district. Two people in serious condition are hospitalized.

Fifty people were hurt in the Korkino municipal district, and forty nine of them have light-degree cuts from shattered glass. They received medical care and are not hospitalized. There are ten slightly injured people in the Yetkul municipal district. Sixteen people, including three children, have cuts from shattered glass in the Yuzhnouralsk municipal district.

The exact information about injured people in other districts is not known yet. The population in closed areas in the Chelyabinsk region was not hurt, the source added.

The Chelyabinsk regional Health Ministry is instructed to send groups of specialists to every site to register those who need medical care. Reserve beds are prepared in hospitals in the region.

The Federal Medico-Biological Agency is instructed to place forces on alert. Four hundred reserve beds are prepared in the agency's medical centres, the Health Ministry source said.
