SYKTYVKAR, February 11 (Itar-Tass) – Two miners of the Vorkutinskaya mine have been hospitalised in an intensive care unit and another miner in a trauma surgery unit, the Komi Republic government’s press service quoted officials of the Healthcare Ministry as saying on Monday.
The condition of one of the miners is considered grave, the press service said.
One of the miners has a closed craniocerebral injury, many fractures, combined traumas, traumatic shock and heat burns. The second one has an open craniocerebral injury and burns of upper airways. His condition is considered grave, the press service said.
The other injured person has been hospitalised in the trauma surgery unit with brain commotion and facial burns of first and second degrees.
At present, miners are being provided medical assistance. Every hour information comes from the Centre for Crisis Management and the Vorkuta medical emergency hospital. The leadership of Vorkutaugol’s leadership provided a room for psychological aid for relatives of dead and injured miners.
According to the republic’s Interior Ministry, 18 miners died after the blast at the Vorkutinskaya mine. The fate of one miner is being clarified. Totally 259 people were below the ground, the rest of them were evacuated.
