MOSCOW, February 9 (Itar-Tass) – The Moscow region’s Chief Investigative Department of Russia’s Investigative Committee initiated proceedings on death of a child in a waterpark of the Moscow region’s Mytishchi city, spokeswoman Irina Gumennaya said on Saturday.
The information on the accident arrived on Friday at about 22:00 Moscow time.
“According to the preliminary information, the child together with his mother and elder brother was in the swimming pool of the waterpark. For some time, the grownups left him there unattended. During the swimming, the child began to choke and drown, however, no staff members of the facility noticed the accident,” Gumennaya said. “Only five minutes later, a visitor, who is being identified now, took the child from the water and called for the doctor. The medical aid on the site could not help the boy, and he died.”
The investigation confiscated all technical and organisational documents in the facility, the state witnesses and interrogate the staff and the parents.
The waterpark’s officials are not responding telephone calls to the numbers, quoted on the park’s site on the Internet.
A year earlier, a similar tragedy happened in the city. On February 23, 2012, a five year old drowned in the Yuna Life waterpark in the city of Mytishchi, where he was with his mother and her friend. Similarly, the boy was left unattended. Later, the court suspended work of that waterpark for the term of 40 days.
