KAZAN, February 7 (Itar-Tass) - A court in Naberezhnye Chelny sanctioned the arrest of the man suspected of murdering Vasilina Galitsina, 8, the press service of the town court told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
"Today, the court of Naberezhnye Chelny met the investigator's petition and sanctioned the arrest of Uzbekistan native Farukh Tashbayev, 30, for two months, until April 7," the press service reported.
The hearing was held in the remand ward where the detainee is kept for the sake of his safety.
Tashbayev has lived in the town since 2010.
Second-form pupil Vasilina Galitsina did not return home from school on February 2. The suspect was detained on February 5; during a questioning he confessed to the murder and showed the place where he had hidden the body. The body of the schoolgirl with signs of battery and a knife wound was found near a road in the Zainsky district, 70 kilometers from Naberezhnye Chelny.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his condolences to the family of Vasilina Galitsina. He ordered the police tighten migration policy and step up the work in ensuring public order and citizens' personal safety.
