THE HAGUE, February 4 (Itar-Tass) – Russian President Vladimir Putin will make on April 8 a one-day visit to the Netherlands at the invitation of Queen Beatrix, says a report of the Netherlands Government Information Service circulated on Monday.

The report says the visit is timed for the cross-year for the Netherlands and Russia. The program for the cross-year will have three main aspects: economics and culture, as well as politics and society.

The Netherlands is one of Russia’s biggest investors and trading partners. Russia is highly important to the majority of essential sectors of the Dutch economy, as they fit into Russia’s striving for modernization and innovation in the economic area. These sectors also include energy, agriculture, marine technologies and the infrastructure, says the report.

It also stresses that special attention will be given to cultural ties, which will be reflected in a large number of exhibitions, concerts, dance shows and other cultural events in both countries. Politics and society is the third trend of the cross-year. The program offers opportunities to discuss legislation and social development, the Netherlands Government Information Service reports.

This will be Vladimir Putin’s second visit to the Netherlands. The first one was in 2005.
