MOSCOW, January 31 (Itar-Tass) – Moscow urges Tehran to freeze uranium enrichment for the period of talks on Iran’s nuclear dossier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.
“We urge Iran to freeze all enrichment works before the talks yield any results. Such appeals appeared in several U.N. Security Council resolutions and the statements by the Sextet [five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany],” Lukashevich said.
“Iranians act within the IAEA Safeguards Agreement. The Agency was notified that their experts would be present and inspect the process,” the diplomat stressed.
“Jointly with other members of the U.N. Security Council we urged and urge Iran to freeze enrichment works for the period of talks,” Lukashevich said.
