MAKHACHKALA, January 28 (Itar-Tass) – Magomedsalam Magomedov, the former head of Dagestan, told reporters on Monday that he is pleased with the work his team has done.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed on Monday the decree appointing Ramazan Abdulatipov acting head of the Republic of Dagestan. The President also signed the decrees on the termination of powers of Magomedsalam Magomedov as head of Dagestan and on his appointment as deputy head of the Russian president’s administration.
“I believe there have been considerable achievements and, the main thing, consolidation of society has taken place,” Magomedov said. “I think these tendencies should continue,” he said.
Magomedov said the proposal to work in the presidential administration had been made to him by Vladimir Putin personally. “This is one more evidence of respect for and confidence of the President in our republic,” he said.
“I was offered a highly responsible post that makes it possible to continue working for the benefit of our republic and of the whole country,” said the former head of Dagestan. “I, certainly, wish that our good beginnings should be continued and that the republic should advance along the road of contemporary democratic development. I wish that people who will be the republic’s leaders should always remember that the well-being of the Dagestani people is the main thing,” he said.
Magomedov also said that he regards Ramazan Abdulatipov as an experienced politician who knows the republic well and hopes to work with him in accord.
