VLADIVOSTOK, January 29 (Itar-Tass) – Six Primorsky fishing boats and the Sakhalin rescue ship Atlas are searching for the crew from the fishing boat Shans-101, which sank in the Sea of Japan (East Sea) on January 26. The Russian emergency aviation is also expected to participate in the search operation, captain of the seaport Vladivostok Alexander Kuvshinov said on Tuesday.
For the last two days 15 crewmembers were saved from the Shans-101 crew, which consisted of the citizens of Russia and Indonesia. Ten of them were brought to the Sakhalin port Kholmsk and were hospitalized with the hyperthermia of the extremities. Five rescued crewmen, who are still in the Shans-101 wreckage area onboard the fishing vessel Talan, are to be handed over to the fishing vessel Tamara and are to be brought to a port in the Primorsky Territory on Tuesday.
Four Indonesian sailors and 11 Russian sailors were saved. In the words of the rescued sailors, when 18 people turned out to be onboard a life raft after the ship wreckage, eight of them died of hyperthermia and were brought down in the sea for the rescue of the survived sailors. The life raft was overloaded. The fate of another seven Shans-101 crewmembers is unclear.
