RUSSKIY ISLAND, Vladivostok, January 28 (Itar-Tass) - Countries in the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) must jointly resist the existing challenges and threats, RF President Vladimir Putin has stated in a message of greetings sent to participants and guests of the 21st session of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPD). The session opened here on Monday.
The Head of State pointed out that this meeting "is held in the vein of activities of Russia's recently concluded presidency in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum which culminated in an APEC summit here in Vladivosrok".
Putin recalled, "At the summit, the sides reaffirmed the striving of all APR countries for joint work in the interests of sustainable development of the Region and the strengthening of its role as the prime mover of global economic growth". "The parliamentarians make a tangible contribution to the attainment of this strategic goal," the RF President emphasized.
"Parliamentary diplomacy is aimed at raising the level of mutual trust among APR countries," Putin pointed out. He said, "It is important jointly to resist the existing challenges and threats and through combined efforts create a non-bloc architecture on the principles of equal and indivisible security for all".
