KIEV, January 26 (Itar-Tass) - The Ukrainian Prosecutor-General's Office has received evidence of witnesses over the case of ex-premier Yulia Timoshenko's supposed involvement in the killing of parliament member and influential businessman Yevgeny Shcherban, the head of the main department of the prosecutor's office for investigation into particularly important cases, Andrei Kurys, said in the Shuster Live broadcast on Friday.
"I will not reveal an investigation secret if I say that there is evidence of witnesses. And even not one. Living witnesses," he said. "Both Timoshenko and Timoshenko's defence must be interested in the evidence getting into court soon," he added.
Prosecutor-General Viktor Pshonka on January 18 said the Prosecutor-General's Office had completed the investigation into the criminal case of the murder of deputy Shcherban.
Pre-trial investigation materials are collected, which show that Timoshenko indeed ordered the killing together with Lazarenko, Pshonka said, adding that Timoshenko and Lazarenko had paid 2.8 million dollars for the murder of Shcherban.
Shcherban was shot dead on November 3, 1996 at Donetsk airport when he arrived from Moscow. The killers escaped by car from the site.
