SAMARA, January 22 (Itar-Tass) — The number of people hospitalized after a bus-truck collision in Russia’s Samara region on Monday grew from 26 to 32 on Tuesday, sources from the regional healthcare ministry told Tass.

“Twelve people remain in hospitals of the region’s Yelkhovo and Krasnoyarsky districts, another 20 people are in the Kalinin district clinic, and two of them are in a grave condition,” ministry sources said.

The accident took place at about 09:00 a.m. Moscow time on Monday at the 110th kilometer of the Samara-Ulyanovsk highway, near the settlement of Borma. The driver of a heavy duty MAN truck lost control of the vehicle and rammed a Neoplan bus with pilgrims who were returning to Samara from a trip to the settlement of Bulgary. Two people were killed and more than 40 were injured.

Criminal proceedings were instituted against the truck driver over violation of traffic and vehicle operation rules. He may be facing up to seven years in prison.
