SAMARA, January 21 (Itar-Tass) — One of those injured in a bus crash in Russia’s Samara region died in hospital, thus bringing the death toll from the traffic accident to two. The number of those hospitalized after the crash went up from 20 to 22, a spokesman for the regional health ministry said on Monday.
According to earlier reports, the accident took place at about 09:00 a.m. Moscow time on Monday at the 110th kilometer of the Samara-Ulyanovsk highway, near the settlement of Borma. The driver of a heavy duty MAN truck lost control of the vehicle and rammed a Neoplan bus with pilgrims who were returning to Samara from a trip to the settlement of Bulgary in neighboring republic of Bashkortostan. The bus driver was killed. As many as 31 people were taken for examination to the regional hospital. Seven more people sought medical assistance in Samara.
An investigation is underway.
