MOSCOW, January 21 (Itar-Tass) — The biggest over the last decades exercise of the inter-fleet grouping of forces of the Russian Navy, which started on January 19, is going in the waters of the Black and Mediterranean Seas. The grouping includes 20 naval and special ships, as well as support vessels, ITAR-TASS learnt at the Press-Service and Information Department of the Russian Defense Ministry on Monday.
“The main task of the exercise is to check the readiness of the military direction bodies and the inter-fleet grouping of forces to fulfill assigned tasks in the far sea zone,” a representative of the department said.
“Besides, during the exercise, issues of interaction of the grouping of the Russian Navy with command forcers of the long-range aviation and the 4th command of the Air Force and the Air Defense will be drilled,” the source said.
At present, the ships of the grouping began deploying in the assigned areas. “During the next two days, anti-sabotage defense trainings will be conducted on unprotected roads and at ships’ mooring points, as well as actions in case of the threat of attacks of saboteurs and terrorists,” the source specified.
