VORONEZH, January 21 (Itar-Tass) - The number of those injured in a bridge collapse in Voronezh Region has risen to five. Apart from three people, who were hospitalized immediately after the incident, another two workers applied for medical aid, a source at a district hospital in the city of Borisoglebsk has told Itar-Tass. One of the injured died in hospital.
The incident occurred on Saterday afternoon, Jan 19.
Over the past week that was already a secon instance of a deck collapse on the bridge which is under construction. The first one happened on January 13, killing two people and seriously injuring another two. Among those killed in the bridge collapse was the director of an enterprise engaging in bridge building.
Accordingto preliminary data given by an inquiry commission, the bridge collapses were caused by the overloading of the bridge superstructure.
Sergei Glazyev, senior assistant to the director of the regional investigation department, has told Itar-Tass that a judicial inquiry into the given facts is under way. All the circumstances are being scrutinized. A procedural decision will be taken on the strength of the results of the inquiry.
