Russian “Kamaz” team wins Dakar-2013 rally

BUENOS AIRES, January 20 (Itar-Tass) – Russian team of pilot Eduard Nikolayev has won the Dakar-2013 rally on KAMAZ trucks in the Chilean capital of Santiago.

Another Russian team led by Airat Mardeyev is second. Their “Kamaz Masters” teammate Andrei Karginov is third.

In motorcycling, the trophy went to Cyril Despres of France for the fifth time. Russian pilot Leonid Novitsky on “Mini” is third.

The route of the Dakar-2013 rally ran through the sand rocks and mountains of Peru, Argentina and Chile. The race drivers covered over 8,000 kilometers from start to finish. The decoration ceremony will take place on a podium outside La Moneda Presidential Palace in the centre of Santiago on Sunday.
