MOSCOW, January 18 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Investigation Committee opened a new criminal case against oppositionist Leonid Razvozzhayev. The criminal case was opened under Article 306 Part 2 of the Criminal Code for false denunciation, spokesman for the Russian Investigation Committee Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass on Friday.
A new criminal case was opened under Article 306 Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code for false denunciation over the results of a pre-investigation inquiry at Razvozzhayev’s request over alleged tortures against him by a detective from the Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigation Committee in the basement of the house from October 19 to 21, 2012, Markin said.
“Being aware that upon the results of the inquiry in his statements over alleged tortures against him the detective decided to deny him to open a criminal case over the lack of the event of the crime, Razvozzhayev stated repeatedly (particularly at a court session in the Basmanny District Court of Moscow on December 12 and in the Angarsk detention centre on January 14) that the detective of the Russian Investigation Committee allegedly tortured him,” Markin underlined.
The oppositionist has made this statement on December 12 at a court session in the presence of journalists and other people in the Basmanny District Court of Moscow and has made another statement on January 14 in the presence of the lawyers at the Angarsk detention centre, despite the warnings about criminal responsibility for false denunciation and continued to state about alleged tortures against him by a detective from the Russian Investigation Committee.
Leonid Razvozzhayev is accused in the criminal case over masterminding massive disorders that was opened after an inquiry in the facts, which were showed in the documentary Anatomy of Protest-2. Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov and his aide Konstantin Lebedev are also the defendants in this criminal case.
Udaltsov was put on recognizance not to leave the city. Lebedev and Razvozzhayev were arrested. The trio faced the accusation that envisages up to five years in prison.
The second criminal case against Razvozzhayev was opened over the bandit attack, which he committed in Angarsk in 1997. The Investigation Committee merged both criminal cases in one criminal case.
Meanwhile, another criminal case was opened against Razvozzhayev for illegal border transgression on October 15, 2012.
A new criminal article for false denunciation under the accusation of a grave or a heinous crime envisages a fine from 100,000 to 300,000 roubles or up to three years in prison.
The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has earlier satisfied the request from the investigation and extended the term in arrest for Razvozzhayev until April 1, 2013. On January 21, the Moscow City Court will try an appeal for the extension of the term in custody for him again.
