MOSCOW, January 15 (Itar-Tass) – Flurries of snow and icing on the roads are expected in Moscow City, as well as in the population centers of the Moscow region, says a forecast released by Russia’s Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environment Monitoring /Rosgidromet/.
The skies will be mostly overcast during the day, with small clearings. Ice buildup is expected on the sidewalks and the condition of the atmosphere will be conducive to the formation of icicles.
Air temperatures will mostly stand between – 10 C and – 8 C, with possible descents down to – 13 C.
Southern and southeastern winds will be blowing at 3 to 8 meters per second.
Typical characteristics of the picture will largely remain unchanged on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday but air temperature may go down to – 12 C to – 15 C.
The coldest day on January 15 was registered in 1893 when temperature gauges showed – 37.8 C.
January 15, 1993 was the warmest day throughout since the start of systemic weather reporting, as the air warmed up to 3.1 C.
