IRKUTSK, January 14 (Itar-Tass) — A reserved heating source is planned to be put into operation soon in Kirensk, where a fire breaking out in the boiler house left more than 1,000 people without heating supply, deputy head of the Irkutsk regional emergency situation department Valentin Nelyubov told reporters on Monday.

Second time for the past week the fire broke out at the sixth boiler house, which provides the heating supply to the residential area Vodniki in Kirensk. The oil tank caught fire at about 06:00 local time (01:00 Moscow time) on Monday in the city. “The fire damaged the building on the area of 40 square metres. According to the preliminary reports, the oil tank was damaged, the pumps were not damaged, the water circulation in the heating pipe continues,” Nelyubov said.

The burning boiler house provides the heating supply for a kindergarten and 50 residential houses, where 1,113 people live, including 376 children. These houses are mainly wooden houses, where the stove heating is also provided. “It is being specified whether the stove heating is available at all houses. Mobile controlling groups are working, additional heating sources were provided in the entrances of the houses,” he said.

The emergencies department reported that the air temperature in Kirensk fell down to 42 degrees below zero overnight to Monday, but now the air temperature went up to 35 degrees below zero, the air temperature will keep on going up by Monday evening.

“The air temperature is 18-20 degrees Celsius in the houses now. No threat of frozen houses exists,” Nelyubov pledged.

Ten emergency teams are involved in the cleanup of the heating breakdown in Kirensk. The committee headed by first deputy prime minister of the region Nikolai Slobodchikov went to the incident area.

The similar fire case in the boiler house in Kirensk occurred on January 8. The firemen managed to put out the fire and clean up the aftermaths of the fire quickly, the heating supply in the residential houses and social facilities was restored fully.
