Centre of Moscow to turn in big stage with interactive shows, live music, dances on New Year night

MOSCOW, December 31 (Itar-Tass) —— The centre of Moscow will turn in the walking area according to the tradition. Festive interactive shows will be staged at four venues, namely on Okhotny Ryad, the Lubyanka Square, Vasilyevsky Spusk and the Revolution Square. The organizers pledged that the most interesting entertainments will be held in downtown Moscow, including cartoon shows, live music, dances, fireworks, magic trick shows and congratulatory messages.

For instance, the large-scale audiovisual show “Fairytale of Fairytales” will begin at 22:00 Moscow time with the projection on the facade on the Manezh Exhibition Hall from the direction of the Moskva Hotel. This will be a good story about a boy, who wanted to prolong the New Year holidays and therefore decided to stop the time. The show at the Manezh Exhibition Hall will be held in the first three days of the New Year.

A two-hour show that will be the live installation “I love Moscow” will be held at 22:00 Moscow time on Okhotny Ryad. Right after the chime of the Kremlin bells the music bands from Russia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine will give an exciting concert. Along with their performances on the main stage, three huge screens will be placed on the central squares of the city, where a video and musical show will be showed from 22:00 to 01:30 Moscow time.

“The Cinema Gift” will be staged on the Vasilyevsky Spusk Square, where the fragments from favourite films, which will be brought together in a spectacular show with the comments from radio presenter Max Lyubimov.

The children’s show “Cartoon Gift” will be held on the Lubyanka Square. The show will feature the pieces from favourite cartoons with the comments from VJ Yukla. “The Musical Gift” will be given on the Revolution Square. This show will be a medley from the pieces of classical music and poems, which famous actors will recite. People will be able to sing, recite the poems and dance with favourite movie heroes.

The festive fireworks will be held to see in New Year from the Moskvoretskaya Embankment and the Vorobyevy Hills. Two skyrocketing fireworks will be launched at these venues. Meanwhile, the fireworks will be launched at ten more venues in several administrative districts of Moscow. For instance, the skies over the Tushino airfield will be “painted” with orange fireworks, Zelenograd with silver fireworks, Nagatinsky Zaton with green fireworks and Izmailovo with blue fireworks. All pyrotechnical shows will last five minutes.

The Moscow parks will become the main venues for the festivities during the New Year holidays. Each of them will be given the special name for this period of time that will reflect the concept of the New Year celebrations. These parks will have the following special names “Illusion Park”, “Olivier Park”, “Ark Park”, “Reel Park”, “Park of Winter Fantasies”, “Fairytale Park”, “Garden of Light”, “Fairy Lights Park” and even “Tangerine Park”. Fifteen parks will have a common New Year program and the common style throughout the Russian capital. The music, which the Moscow composers wrote particularly for the occasion, will be played there. Each park will turn in a unique stage with its New Year story.

During the New Year holidays the Moscow museums will be open for free from January 2-8. As many as 64 museums and 27 exhibition halls are participating in the festive action. Meanwhile, the Moscow Zoo will be open for free on January 1.

Over 700 restaurants and cafes will work in Moscow on the New Year night. They are mainly specialized for the family dinners. But the sale of alcohol drinks, including beer, as well as bottled alcoholic drinks will be closed in downtown Moscow already from 20:00 Moscow time on December 31 to 06:00 Moscow time on January 1. The police will make the checks with the metal detectors at the entrance to cultural and sport facilities. All city utilities will operate in a more intensive mode. Over 1,000 ambulances will be on duty during the holidays.

Over 1,300 events will be held in Moscow during the New Year and Christmas holidays. Five million Muscovites are expected to attend the festive events.
