VLADIKAVKAZ, December 28 (Itar-Tass) – Georgian Military Road, a major automobile artery linking Russia and the countries of South Caucasus – Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan – across the Greater Caucasus mountainous range has reopened for traffic after the end of a snowfall on the Georgian side of the Greater Caucasus range.

“In the light of normalization of the weather in Georgia, a decision has been taken to reopen the road for heavy-duty trucks and busses at the section of the road between Vladikavkaz and the Upper Lars border-crossing station in both direction without any restrictions,” a spokesperson for the Emergency Situations Ministry of the region of North Ossetia told Itar-Tass.

The Russian section of the Georgian Military Road was closed in the small hours of Friday due to a snowstorm on Georgia’s territory.
