MOSCOW, December 26 (Itar-Tass) — A new basic law "On Education in the Russian Federation", which was passed by the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament on December 21, is to be examined here on Wednesday at a plenary session of the Federation Council upper house of parliament. In the event of approval by the FC, the document will be referred to the President of the RF for signature.
The law is to enter into force on September 1, 2013, with the exception of a number of provisions, for which different timeframes are established.
The new basic document in the field of education is to replace two outdated laws "On Education" and "On Higher and Postgraduate Vocational Education", which were adopted in 1992 and 1996, respectively.
