RF, Belarus, Kazakhstan order Eurasian econ union agt drafted by May 2013

MOSCOW, December 19 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered their governments to get an agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union drafted by May 1, 2013.

Putin said at a Customs Union summit in Moscow on Wednesday, December 19, that “we instructed the governments of the three countries to step up work so as to get the agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union drafted by May 1, 2013 and signed by May 1, 2014.”

He stressed that the main task in the Customs Union is to “do everything possible to create the Eurasian Economic Union by January 1, 2015”.

National procedures have to be completed so that the agreement could enter into force by that time.
